The mission of the department of radiology and medical imaging is to perform imaging acts that contribute to the establishment of a diagnosis, monitoring or treatment of a pathology. These techniques are for inpatients or outpatients.
The project of the service is to make available to patients the imaging techniques in optimal conditions of use in a shorter time than expected in the field of medical imaging.

The Medical Imaging Department of the Yaoundé Gyneco-Obstetrics and Pediatric Hospital's mission is to meet the specific needs of the population it serves in terms of diagnostic services, therapeutic services and specialized services. Its primary role is to provide users with the tests prescribed by their physicians to confirm, reverse or refine a diagnosis in order to establish appropriate treatment. Several exams are related to medical imaging. Some require special preparation. That is why it is important to scrupulously follow the preparation that corresponds to your prescription to better see the anatomical structures of the body regions, and to obtain conclusive results. The pre-test preparation instructions will be communicated to you by the service personnel.

General Radiology

General Radiology
It is divided into two major groups of examinations: standard exams and special exams. HGOPY has 3 digital radiology rooms of last generation.

Standard X-rays that do not require preparation: examinations of the skeleton, lungs, abdomen. Are realizable every day and 24/24.
Special x-rays requiring preparation: intravenous urography, cystography, urethrocystography, hysterosalpingography, myelography, saccoradiculography, TOGD, fistulography, arthrography, Barium enema, etc.

This preparation is done before the examination and consists of:

Perform an evacuation enema
Respect a diet
Conduct an interrogation to find out if the patient is diabetic or not; allergic or not to the contrast medium
Know the state of renal function
Know the need to be fasting or not
Know the date of the last rules
Prescribe a specific order for each examination, etc.

Scan
It is divided into two major groups of examinations: standard exams and special exams. HGOPY Features digital ultrasound machines and DOPPLER.

Standard ultrasounds that do not require preparation
   * Obstetrical ultrasound,
   * Abdominal ultrasound,
   * Pelvic ultrasound,
   * Ultrasound of soft parts
Are feasible every working day and emergency 24 hours.

Special ultrasounds requiring preparation
   * Doppler ultrasound,
   * Hysterosonography,
   * Ultrasound-guided cytoprosis ... .etc.
This preparation is done before the examination and consists of:
   * Perform an evacuation enema
   * Perform an interrogation to find out if the patient is diabetic or not; allergic or not to the contrast medium
   * Know the need to be fasting or not
   * Know the date of the last rules
   * Perform biological examinations (TP-TCK) before certain cytopoints
   * Prescribe a specific order for each examination, etc.
These ultrasounds can be done by appointment every day; require a prescription adapted to each type of examination.

Scanners without injection (do not require preparation)

Are feasible every working day and emergency 24 hours.
Scanners with injection (require preparation)
   * Brain scan
   * Abdominal scan
   * Pelvic scanner
   * Thoracic CT
   * Myeloscan
   * Arthroscanner

* Angioscanner ... etc.
This preparation is done before the examination and consists of:
* Perform an evacuation enema
